Great News! We're now delivering in the Houston and Austin, Texas areas.

About Us

Our Mission

Is to support local growers. Each week we create a new arrangement using only what is local and in season, and we deliver to your door. Most growers will grow 1-5 varieties of flowers, so changing the arrangement every week means we can support multiple growers. We keep our price low, so we can keep our volume high (this way our growers benefit the most). Inside each Bloombox are instructions, so you can arrange the blooms yourself!
Meet Emily and Matt, founders of Matilda’s Bloombox.

Meet Emily and Matt, founders of Matilda’s Bloombox.

A Bay Area native, Matt, has a long history of flower farming in the family. His Genovese great-grandparents were Bay Area flower farmers over 100 years ago and he grew up with a strong understanding of the struggles that California farmers face. Emily is a Yorkshire lass and came to San Francisco via a successful business career in London and New York. She was tired of the corporate grind and looking to step into more fulfilling work where she could utilize her creativity and explore her passion for flowers. Enter Matilda, their daughter, born in 2016, who gave them both the push they needed to create a business that could make a meaningful difference in their local community.

As with many start-ups, the early days were tough.

As with many start-ups, the early days were tough.

The company was entirely self-funded and the learning curve was steep. Matilda was followed by Humphrey in 2018 which meant balancing two small children with a fledgling business still operating out of their garage.

After all those early challenges, Emily and Matt began to hit their stride. They are proud to have seen the business grow through word of mouth and referrals from a loyal community of customers, without the need for big marketing campaigns.

In 2020, Matilda’s Bloombox expanded from the Bay Area into Austin and Houston, Texas. Since then, they have also branched out into Sonoma and Petaluma and continue to look for new areas in which to expand their vibrant flower community.
