The company was entirely self-funded and the learning curve was steep. Matilda was followed by Humphrey in 2018 which meant balancing two small children with a fledgling business still operating out of their garage.
After all those early challenges, Emily and Matt began to hit their stride. They are proud to have seen the business grow through word of mouth and referrals from a loyal community of customers, without the need for big marketing campaigns.
In 2020, Matilda’s Bloombox expanded from the Bay Area into Austin and Houston, Texas. Since then, they have also branched out into Sonoma and Petaluma and continue to look for new areas in which to expand their vibrant flower community.
